Strategic Persistence Initiatives
Through successful relationship building with students, faculty, staff, and the external community, the Office of Strategic Persistence Initiatives strives to gain a deeper understanding of continuing, new, and visiting student needs. The department works collaboratively with academic and student service areas, developing programming that will provide students with the flexibility needed to achieve their ultimate educational objectives. The office is committed to serving the college community in a consultative capacity on all issues relevant to enhanced Winter, Summer and other special academic sessions, as well as other initiatives that benefit our students.
The Office of Strategic Persistence Initiatives engages collaboratively with both internal and external constituencies. Internal activities include overseeing and marketing the winter and summer sessions, working with deans and department chairs to ensure that course offerings are aligned with student demand, providing and analyzing data to anticipate course needs, running assisted registration labs for enrolled students, and processing applications for students visiting from other colleges and universities. Externally, the office is responsible for developing and maintaining articulation and transfer agreements with other colleges; providing weekly on-site pre-transfer advisement at three of Lehman's major feeder community colleges; and conducting outreach to promote Lehman's online programs.
