Teresita Levy Named Associate Provost for Experiential Learning, Executive Director for Industry Partnerships

October 8, 2025

Lehman College has appointed Professor Teresita Levy as Associate Provost for Experiential Learning and Executive Director for Industry Partnerships, a new leadership role that encompasses CUNY Beyond, a program designed to enhance each student’s ability to succeed in their chosen career.

The position centers on strengthening the College’s internal focus on job preparation and skills, while expanding external collaborations with employers, community organizations, and industry leaders across New York City and beyond.

“Professor Levy’s appointment reflects our commitment to connecting academic excellence with professional opportunity,” said Provost Jorge Silva-Puras. “Her leadership will be instrumental in forging the partnerships that prepare Lehman students to succeed in an evolving economy while strengthening the College’s role as a vital civic and economic anchor in the Bronx.”

A longtime member of Lehman’s faculty, Levy has served as Interim Dean of the School of Arts & Humanities and Chair of the Department of Latin American & Latino Studies. She has been recognized for research on Caribbean history and politics and for a sustained commitment to equity, access, and student success—work that reflects her focus on building bridges between the College and the communities it serves.

“I’m excited to lead in this important new role and help shape CUNY Beyond to prepare every student for real career success,” Levy said. “By making career success a core part of the student experience, we ensure our students gain the skills and connections needed to secure meaningful employment immediately after graduation. I look forward to partnering with employers, community organizations, and industry leaders to make this vision a reality.”

In her new capacity, Levy will collaborate closely with Vice President Jermaine Wright and Career Services Director Bascillia Toussaint to integrate industry engagement with career-readiness initiatives; lead development of strategic partnerships to expand experiential learning, internships, and employment opportunities; advance Lehman’s role in promoting upward mobility so students graduate with in-demand skills and networks; and work with faculty, staff, and external partners on innovation, applied research, and workforce development aligned with the economic future of the Bronx and New York City. The role also supports the College’s broader vision to become a national leader in linking higher education with real-world impact.

Levy will retain her position as Executive Director of International Programs & Community Engagement and has already begun her new duties.
