On August 13, the second cohort of the Lehman College New York Yankees’ Sports Management Speaker Series wrapped up the series with a special celebration on the field at Yankee Stadium. A partnership between Lehman's School of Continuing & Professional Studies and the New York Yankees, the five-week program provides students and alumni with an inside look at the business side of professional sports through sessions with current Yankees leaders.

“Our partnership with the New York Yankees continues to open doors for Lehman College students and the Bronx community,” said Andrea Huda, program manager for the School of Continuing & Professional Studies. “We’re creating experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for meaningful careers while strengthening the connection between education, industry, and community impact.”

Throughout the program, participants engaged with executives from departments such as marketing, analytics, ticketing, community relations, and front office leadership, gaining valuable insights into the day-to-day operations and strategic decisions behind the renowned franchise.

Elisha Ivory-Lubin, a senior majoring in film and television studies, looked back at their experience, “I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Sports Management Series with the New York Yankees, and it was nothing short of exceptional. Being part of such an iconic team allowed me to gain invaluable insights and experiences that I will carry with me for a lifetime.”

The program helps students and alumni get a feel for the sports industry and build their professional network along the way.

Ivory-Lubin added, “This experience has not only inspired me to pursue a career in sports management but also fostered connections that will aid my professional development. I left feeling empowered and ready to embrace this path, excited to contribute to the world of sports.”

The celebration included a certificate ceremony in the press room, on-field recognition with a group photo, and the unique opportunity to watch the game from the exclusive Judge’s Chambers seating area.

This collaboration is one of two ongoing initiatives Lehman maintains with the Bronx Bombers. In 2024, the New York Yankees teamed up with the College to launch the Memorial Internship in honor of Armando Taveras, the team’s former Spanish-language broadcaster.
