With the launch of “Forever Forward: The Campaign for Lehman College” and the Fall Alumni Rendezvous on October 4, spirits were running high on the Lehman campus.

In the Center for the Performing Arts lobby, President Fernando Delgado and Vice President for Institutional Advancement Kelly Brown gathered a large group of College and community leaders; elected officials; foundation board members; as well as students, faculty, and alumni for the official kickoff of Forever Forward, a first-of-its-kind fundraising campaign to raise $90 million for Lehman College..

“This campaign is an opportunity to elevate our academic programs, support students through scholarships, and create a vibrant learning environment, while fostering partnerships and cooperation beyond the campus,” President Delgado said.

Fueled by philanthropist MacKenzie Scott’s $30 million catalyst gift in 2020, the initiative will expand scholarships, spark academic innovation, and support programs that advance a healthier Bronx. Including Scott’s gift, Lehman has already raised more than $60 million toward the goal.

Moderated by BronxTalk host and Lehman alumnus Gary Axelbank, the event featured an inspirational video and the live premiere of “Anything Is Possible When You Dream,” composed by Professor of Music Penny Prince and performed by Prince, students, and alumni.

“Lehman College is entering a transformative moment,” said Kelly Brown, Vice President for Institutional Advancement. “For a relatively young, mid-sized public institution, aiming to raise $90 million is bold.”

The celebrations extended beyond the Performing Arts Center, as the Fall Alumni Rendezvous brought almost 80 alumni back to campus to reconnect, explore, and join in the day’s excitement. Activities included tours, open studios, lab demonstrations, a men’s soccer match against John Jay, and much more.

At the midday reception, Vice President Brown joined the group to announce the Forever Forward campaign in person, linking the day’s events and inviting alumni to help shape what comes next.

“Forever Forward will expand opportunities for students lacking access to vital resources and networks,” Brown added. We call on alumni, community leaders, and supporters to help make this vision a reality.”
