Congratulations to Professor Ricky Flores on the release of South Bronx Family Album! His book captures the start of a 44-year career as a photojournalist covering New York City.

“The South Bronx Family Album is a 500 limited edition monograph of the South Bronx, from 1979 through the late 1980s, and covers the tumultuous times in New York,” said Flores. “Street culture dominated the era resulting in the creation of a worldwide artistic revolution that continues today.”

He recently spoke with the New Yorker about his journey from photographing his neighborhood, family, and friends to capturing some of the country's most iconic images. His work is currently on exhibit at The Bronx County Historical Society.
