Rooted in the Bronx
Bronx Food Humanities is built on partnerships with organizations, farmers, and food justice leaders already doing this work across the Bronx. In addition to hosting our interns, their expertise shapes our courses and grounds the program in the communities it serves.

Internship & Project Partners
Students intern and collaborate with organizations including:
- The New York Botanical Garden
- Randall’s Island Alliance Park
- James Baldwin Outdoor Learning Center
- ReBORN Farms
- New Roots Community Farm – International Rescue Committee
Our Partnership with the New York Botanical Garden
NYBG is a founding partner in Bronx Food Humanities, offering students and faculty access to the Edible Academy, the Bronx Green-Up Farm Hubs, and the LuEsther T. Mertz Library's collections documenting centuries of food plants and histories. NYBG also hosts public events, co-develops curriculum, and continues a tradition of collaboration with CUNY that includes horticultural training, foodways workshops in community gardens, and a Bronx-based oral history archive.
A Network of Food Leaders
Program events draw on an extensive network of Bronx and NYC food professionals — farmers, gardeners, food justice advocates, historians, critics, and chefs — who bring their expertise directly into the classroom and to public programming.
