Student Teacher and Intern Applications - Due full semester in advance!
Student Teaching and Intern semester/coursework require Lehman College School of Education faculty approval a full semester in advance (Step 1). After completing an Interest Form (Step 2), official applications are submitted in your Lehman 360 account (Step 3).

Step 1: MEET with your program faculty advisor or mentor as soon as possible and no later than the deadlines listed above. Transcripts must be reviewed and readiness approved a semester in advance to be a student teacher/Intern. If you miss the deadlines above, coursework and student teaching/internship will be delayed to another semester.
Step 2: REQUIRED INTEREST FORM (link below) is due a full semester in advance. We upload your EMPLID to Lehman 360, which provides access to the official L360 Teaching Application in your own L360 account.
Interest Form for Spring 2026 is due no later than 11/1/2025: Link will be available at end September 2026 for Spring 2026 student teaching/Intern semester.
Step 3: REQUIRED Lehman 360 Teaching Application. You will receive an email from clinical.practice@lehman.cuny.edu with an invitation to complete the Official Lehman 360 Teaching Application after your Interest Form is received.
Step 4: REQUIRED completion of additional application steps that are specific to your academic pathway and situation (select below):
a. Follow Steps 1, 2, 3, above as soon as possible.
b. Student Teachers must review our Fingerprinting webpage and complete the required steps to confirm fingerprinting clearance and student teaching eligibility.
Are you teaching full-time in your New York State Teacher Certification grade and content area? Are you hoping to use your own classroom to complete your seminar course and degree requirements? Complete Steps 1, 2, 3 above AND the following:
a. Faculty Advisor/Mentor Approval: You must have approval to use your own school/classroom for the Intern semester. Meet with your advisor/mentor as soon as possible.
b. Principal Permission: You must have permission to use your own school classroom for the Intern semester (which includes course assignments, College Supervisor visits/observations, video recording for personal reflection, supervisor observations and learning). Notify your principal accordingly.
c. Download the Intern Principal Permission Letter: Complete all checkboxes and your information; Give to principal to sign in pen.

d. Scan and upload signed Principal Permission Letter to complete your L360 Teaching Application. The letter is required before you can register for courses. Details will be sent via email once your L360 Teaching Application is received.
Are you teaching full-time in your Special Education New York State Teacher Certification grade and content area? Are you hoping to use your own classroom to complete your degree requirements? Will you need some additional experiences to complete your degree? Complete Steps 1, 2, 3 above AND the following:
a. Special Education Student Teaching Faculty Advisor: You must have approval to use your own school/classroom for the Intern semester. Meet with your advisor as soon as possible..
b. Special Education Principal Permission: You must have permission to use your own school classroom for the Intern semester (which includes course assignments, College Supervisor visits/observations, video recording for personal reflection, supervisor observations and learning). Notify your principal accordingly.
c. Download the Special Education Principal Permission Letter: Complete all checkboxes and your information; Give to principal to sign in pen.

b. If you are a NYCPS (New York City Public School) paraprofessional, you may be eligible for a 40-Day Leave of Absence (LOA). Please review the NYC Teach Programs webpage and scroll to the Paraprofessional Student Teaching Leave of Absence Program to learn the requirements.
c. Meet with your faculty advisor or write to clinical.practice@lehman.cuny.edu and plan to attend the next Clinical Practice & Partnership paraprofessional information meeting. We will provide you with detailed information about applying for your NYCPS LOA.
d. Are you hoping to stay in your own paraprofessional classroom or school to complete your NYSED Teacher Certification requirements? Please meet with your Program Advisor and learn if you can apply to student teach as a “faculty pre-approved,” exception.
e. Your L360 Teaching Application needs to be filled out differently if you are taking a LOA or pre-approved to use your own school. Email clinical.practice@lehman.cuny.edu for Open Office hours Zoom link so you can visit online if you have questions.
In very rare circumstances, faculty advisors make an exception and pre-approve a candidate who works in a classroom that matches your NYSED Teacher Certification grade/content area.
a. REQUIRED Pre-Approved Exception: To complete student teaching in your own school, faculty pre-approval is required AND a Cooperating Teacher must be identified and willing to mentor AND a Student Teacher Principal Permission letter must be uploaded to your L360 Teaching Application.

b. Update your L360 Teaching Application as guided by the Office of Clinical Practice & Partnerships.

Unfortunately, you cannot be employed as a substitute teacher and complete your NYSED Teacher Certification requirements. However, If you have been hired as a permanent substitute in your NYSED Teacher Certification grade and content for a full day/semester, and you have pre-approval from your faculty advisor, please write to clinical.practice@lehman.cuny.edu with details.

Open Office Hours for the Fall and Spring semesters (online via Zoom) are generally as follows, but subject to change: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00pm - 5:30pm
All registration for your student teaching and Intern courses takes place with your department. Our office does not handle course registration. Please contact your program. See Faculty Advisor/Mentor contact information above.
When you meet with candidates, please review the following:
- CUNYfirst ACCURACY re: Academic Plan, Sub Plan and Eligibility
a. CORRECT Academic Plan/Sub plan: If a candidate is not listed in CUNYfirst accurately, s/he will not be able to complete the L360 Teaching Application. Please work closely with your candidate to update their pathway through iDeclare.
b. CORRECT CUNYfirst Personal information: If name, email, phone, permanent address is incorrect, please guide your students to follow the Lehman College Registrar's webpage guides for updating personal information. The student can still submit the L360 application, but must update to include accurate information.
c. ELIGIBLE for next semester: Candidates are being given access to the L360 Teaching Application a semester in advance and before Lehman College officially “rolls over” student eligibility to register. We occasionally have candidates who need to “re-apply,” if they have not been enrolled at Lehman College for an extended amount of time. These candidates will not have access to the L360 Teaching Application until they have been accepted officially back into Lehman College. - Students/Interns must receive “Own Classroom” pre-approval
a. Program faculty advisors/mentors must approve a candidate's “own school” and classroom teaching situation. You must approve the NYSED grade/content match, the location of the assignment, and confirm your department/program can assign an appropriate College Supervisor to visit for formal observations.
b. Principal Permission letters must be signed and uploaded to L360 Teaching Application before the semester and use of their “own classroom” for coursework begins. - L360 Teaching Application Approvals
