Welcome to the Department of Music, Multimedia, Theatre, and Dance!
We are excited to begin the academic year with our newest cohort of graduate students. They join current candidates, faculty, and staff to make Lehman’s performing arts programs a destination for the next generation of innovative and dynamic teachers.
The combined Master's Degree in Applied Music and Music Teaching is designed to meet the coursework requirements for music certification in the New York Public School system. The program offers comprehensive courses in performance, pedagogy, and musical analysis to provide candidates with a strong and well-rounded foundation for their future careers. Students will also gain practical experience under the guidance of Lehman’s internationally recognized faculty to improve their skills and support their success. After fulfilling additional certification requirements, including specified teacher exams, candidates will be eligible to receive the Initial Certification to teach music in New York State grades K-12.
