Lehman College alumni returned to campus October 3 for the second annual Fall Alumni Rendezvous, a day of reconnecting, performances, food and activities celebrating the College community.

“It’s important to be able to connect these generations of students—it’s part of that sense of Lehman community,” said President Fernando Delgado.

The event featured guided campus tours, live music by the Tropicalfete Steel Band, a performing arts showcase, a BBQ-style lunch and the Lehman Link-Up Walkway, where alumni connected with student organizations, academic schools and campus programs. Alumni also heard a State of the College address from President Fernando Delgado and gathered for the annual group photo.

“It feels very refreshing and exciting to see new faces, and people talking about their experiences at Lehman,” Student Government Association President Michael Galindo said.

The day concluded with Pitch-Up Lehman and the People’s Choice competitions, highlighting the School of Business, which recently celebrated its fourth year. Sixty Lehman student entrepreneurs applied for the opportunity to participate in Pitch-Up Lehman, a joint initiative of the School of Business and the Office of Institutional Advancement. Selected students pitched their business ideas to a panel of industry leaders, while alumni attending the reunion judged the People’s Choice competition in the outer Lovinger Theatre lobby. Bally’s Corporation provided prize money for both competitions.

Pitch-Up Lehman judges included Lehman alumnus Elias Alcantara ’08, managing director at Macquarie Group; Cira Angeles, president of L.A. Riverside Brokerage; Collin Bailey, Esq., VP of Global Procurement at Bally’s Corporation; Patricia “Ms. Pat” Chin, co-founder of VP Records; and Omar Hawthorne, director of Franchise Development and Community Affairs at Golden Krust.
