Navigating Club Culture and Funding at Lehman

Stepping onto campus, it’s easy to see that student clubs are the true heartbeat of Lehman College. They turn a routine commuter experience into a vibrant, collaborative community. However, behind every successful campus event, cultural showcase, or guest speaker panel, there is a crucial mechanism that makes it all possible: campus funding.
Having served and still serving as a club Vice President and an executive member of the Campus Compliance and Distribution (CCD) committee, I have sat on both sides of the table. I know firsthand the immense passion it takes to run a student organization, but I also know exactly what it takes to get those ideas financed. At the CCD, I evaluated countless proposals, helping clubs refine their pitches to secure the extra funding necessary to bring their creative visions to life.
My commitment to enhancing student life extended even further onto the Senate floor during my time last semester as an SGA Senator and a club member. In the Senate, we did not just look at individual club budgets; we debated and voted on major campus wide issues, including large scale fund allocations on the senate floor that impacted the entire student body. Voting on these initiatives taught me that every dollar allocated to an organization is a direct investment in Lehman's overall campus culture.
Behind every successful student organization is a group of passionate leaders who turn ideas into experiences that bring Lehman’s community together. Lehman clubs are opportunities to build community, develop leadership skills, and create meaningful change on campus. I encourage every Lehmanite to get involved, share their ideas, and become a leader who helps shape the culture and future of our campus.
