Lehman College welcomes Corey Ptak as the new Senior Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Ptak brings more than fifteen years of expertise in faculty development, educational development, evidencebased teaching, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Corey Ptak to Lehman College,” said the Provost Jorge Silva-Puras. “The Center for Teaching and Learning is essential to our academic mission, and Corey’s experience in faculty development and evidencebased teaching will help us strengthen student learning and support our continued work in innovative, inclusive, and technologyenhanced pedagogy.”

In his new role, Ptak provides strategic leadership for the CTL and collaborates with faculty, department chairs, deans, and campus partners to advance teaching excellence. His work includes expanding professional development opportunities, supporting equityminded teaching practices, and strengthening the CTL as a hub for faculty innovation and pedagogical experimentation.

Ptak joins Lehman from Columbia University’s Center for Teaching and Learning, where he serves as Assistant Director of Faculty Programs and Services. His work has focused on supporting effective, inclusive, and innovative teaching across disciplines. He has also contributed to broader conversations about teaching excellence through the Rutgers Teaching Excellence Network and projects centered on pedagogical change and evidencebased instructional practices.

Ptak earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology from Cornell University.
