The alarm hits at 6:00 AM, but the real wake-up call happens the moment I step through the gates at Yankee Stadium. This summer, my classroom isn't a traditional lecture hall, it's the high energy world of the New York Yankees Media Relations department. As a multimedia journalism student, walking into this iconic venue every day is a beautiful reminder of where a Lehman education can take you if you're willing to chase the dream.
A day in this life is a lesson in controlled chaos and pure passion. Long before the first pitch throws the stadium into a frenzy, our team is moving. My mornings consist of sharpness of the eye, teamwork, and communication. From there, afternoons are a blur of preparing daily game notes, organizing stats for broadcasters, and handling credentials for reporters arriving from all over the world.
The real magic happens when the stadium lights flood the diamond and the crowd roars. Looking out from the press box, I have the exact, perfect view of the entire stadium. Watching pre-game batting practice from above and tracking live data during the game, you quickly realize that sports media isn't just about the final score; it's about storytelling, timing, and holding your own in a room full of veterans.
Balancing a Major League schedule while continuing to build my own platform, the Court Talk Soul Walk podcast, is a beautiful grind. But that's the secret between the lines: the blueprint we are given in the Bronx works anywhere, from our campus to the press box. For my fellow Lehmanites reading this, don't wait for permission to be great. Trust your preparation, and be ready to step up to the plate.
