Professor Amy Larimer Takes Her Art on an International Spin

December 9, 2025

Professor and Dance Program Director Amy Larimer recently brought her interdisciplinary work to the Taller Nacional de Danza in Costa Rica with Tangled, a wordless dance and improvisation performance blending tango, theatrical improvisation, and live drawing. She performed alongside Costa Rican tango dancer and improvisational actor Andrey Ramírez of Impromptu Teatro.
“It was really rewarding the have the opportunity to present the show in multiple venues over a short span of time.  I learned a lot about myself as a performer, and we have lots of new ideas about how to continue to develop the work.,” said Professor Larimer.
Since its premiere at ImprovFest Ireland in 2023, Tangled has toured internationally, with stops in New York, Buffalo, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. The work celebrates human connection and explores the expressive power of the body, telling stories beyond the limits of spoken language.
