Lehman College adjunct music professor and world-renowned music therapist Concetta Tomaino has been named to Fierce Life Sciences and Fierce Healthcare’s 2025 Fierce 50 list, which recognizes individuals and companies driving advancements in medicine and healthcare.

Honored for her pioneering work in brain health, Tomaino works at the intersection of music and neuroscience. She co-founded, along with neurologist Oliver Sacks, the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF), a leader in music-based therapy and therapeutic research that brings together the disciplines of neuroscience and music therapy, deepens understanding of music and the brain, and develops effective music-based interventions for people with brain-related health issues.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by Fierce along with the other outstanding awardees,” said Tomaino. “This year IMNF is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. It is wonderful to celebrate our accomplishments in this way.”

Honorees were celebrated at an evening gala in New York on November 20.
