“Professor Levy’s appointment reflects our commitment to connecting academic excellence with professional opportunity,” said Provost Jorge Silva-Puras. “Her leadership will be instrumental in forging the partnerships that prepare Lehman students to succeed in an evolving economy while strengthening the College’s role as a vital civic and economic anchor in the Bronx.”

Professor Levy brings a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and leadership to this position. A longtime member of Lehman’s faculty, she was recently Interim Dean of the School of Arts & Humanities and Chair of the Department of Latin American & Latino Studies and has been recognized for her research on Caribbean history and politics as well as her commitment to equity, access, and student success. Her career at Lehman reflects a deep dedication to building bridges between the College and the communities it serves.

“I’m excited to lead in this important new role and help shape CUNY Beyond to prepare every student for real career success,” said Teresita Levy, Associate Provost for Experiential Learning and Executive Director for Industry Partnerships. “By making career success a core part of the student experience, we ensure our students gain the skills and connections needed to secure meaningful employment immediately after graduation. I look forward to partnering with employers, community organizations, and industry leaders to make this vision a reality.”

In her new capacity, Professor Levy will play an integral role in the following specific areas:

  • Work in close collaboration with Vice President Jermaine Wright and Career Services Director Bascillia Toussaint to integrate industry engagement with career readiness initiatives, ensuring a seamless pathway from classroom to career.
  • Lead the development of strategic partnerships with industry to expand experiential learning, internships, and employment opportunities for students.
  • Advance Lehman’s role as an engine of upward mobility, ensuring that students graduate with the skills and networks to thrive in high-demand fields.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to foster innovation, applied research, and workforce development initiatives aligned with the economic future of the Bronx and New York City.
  • Support the College’s broader vision to become a national leader in linking higher education with real-world impact.

Professor Levy retains her role as Executive Director of International Programs & Community Engagement and has stepped into her new position.
