Miguel Perez, a longtime journalist, Lehman professor, and former chair of the Journalism program, has made American history his beat. He built his website, "Hidden Hispanic Heritage," in an effort to remedy the erasure of Spanish history from the major narratives of European exploration and colonization in what became the United States. The Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network (HITN) show VocesNYC recently featured Perez and his work to bring the Hispanic heritage of North America back to public awareness.
