Exchange Students from Two Continents Come to Lehman

Students from France, South Korea, and Germany bring global perspectives to the heart of The Bronx

September 24, 2025

With the fall semester in full swing, Lehman College welcomes exchange students from international partner institutions Montpellier University (France), Sungshin Women’s University (South Korea), and Paderborn University (Germany). These students join classes across multiple departments, dive into campus activities, and immerse themselves in life at Lehman and in The Bronx.

“This is a great opportunity for everyone,” said Eunice Cuevas, Associate Director of Global Engagement at Lehman. “They’ll experience our academic programs as well as the energy and diversity of our campus community, while our own students will learn all about their cultures.”

The exchange program reflects Lehman’s ongoing commitment to building global connections and creating meaningful cross-cultural experiences for students on both sides of the exchange. “Our students study abroad at these universities and many others, and we are proud to extend the same enriching opportunity here at Lehman,” Eunice added.

Many of the visiting students are eager to explore both the academic environment and the broader community of The Bronx and New York City.

“It’s the little things at Lehman that have made me feel truly welcome — a held door, a quick elevator chat, or just the warmth from professors who genuinely care,” said Yasemin Tas, a visiting student from Paderborn University. “This experience is helping me grow personally and academically, and I’m eager to explore all that New York City has to offer.”

When asked to describe her first week at Lehman, Yasemin summed it up in three words: “Surreal, dynamic, and unpredictable.”
