Lehman students will have a new way to gain real-world experience next year, thanks to Bally’s Corporation Chairman Soo Kim. On Thursday, November 13, Kim visited the campus and announced five paid internships at Bally’s Atlantic City Casino Resort, from Dec. 29-Jan. 23. Selected students will gain hands-on experience across several business departments, including accounting, human resources, hospitality, and management.

“Returning to Lehman College always reminds me where my own journey began,” Kim said. “The students embody the same grit and drive that define the Bronx borough, and it’s inspiring to see their potential.”

Kim, who is also the founder and managing partner of the investment firm Standard General L.P., introduced the internship initiative to an audience of students and alumni attending “The Road to Business Success: The Soo Kim Story & Networking Reception” at the Center for the Performing Arts.

In a conversation with Lehman College Provost Jorge Silva-Puras, Kim reflected on his journey from a low-income immigrant household to heading a leading gaming and entertainment company. He also offered motivation to students hoping to follow in his footsteps.

“When it takes you a long time to get to the starting point, people see it as a disadvantage,” he told them. “But that is not true. You’ve been running a marathon all your life, so when you hit that line, you’ve already got momentum.”
