On  October 24, fans and students alike joined us for a special event featuring acclaimed creator of La Borinqueña Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez.

Hosted by the Department of Latin American & Latino Studies, the event celebrated the popular superhero, known as Marisol Rios De La Luz, who draws her powers from the history and mysticism found on the island of Puerto Rico.

Miranda-Rodriguez shared insights into the inspiration behind La Borinqueña and emphasized the importance of representation in comics. 

"Everyone literally sees themselves and what they bring into the story of La Borinqueña," said Miranda-Rodriguez.
