You’ve heard a lot about Lehman’s reaccreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education – you’ve read the social media posts, seen the animal mascots around campus, maybe even attended an information session or two. Now that the peer reviewers will arrive on campus this Sunday, here are some details about the site visit.
The seven-member team of peer reviewers is comprised of senior academic and administrative leaders from colleges across the region. After an evening reception and overview of the campus on Sunday, April 7, they will spend the next two days meeting with key campus leaders, faculty, staff and students; reviewing important College documents; and conferring with members of the CUNY Board of Trustees.
During these two intensive days of fact-finding, the reviewers could ask random staff, faculty and students about their Lehman experience. Feel free to talk with them about what Lehman means to you. (You might want to read up on our self-study document, which is the framework for the reaccreditation process and this visit.)
The team will determine how well Lehman meets seven important standards that ensure that students receive a high quality education.
On April 9, it’s Lehman Pride Day. We encourage everyone to wear their Lehman swag to show the team how much we love the College!
On April 10, the final day of the visit, the team will report its findings to leadership.
President José Luis Cruz views this visit as an opportunity to display the best of Lehman College. “We have the greatest team of faculty, students, and staff, so I’m confident that our visitors will see everyone’s commitment to a common mission – serving the Bronx and surrounding region as an intellectual, economic, and cultural center; providing undergraduate and graduate studies in the liberal arts and sciences and professional education within a dynamic research environment; and, embracing diversity and actively engaging students in their academic, personal, and professional development.”
