Welcome to the Department of Management and Business Innovation

The Department of Management and Business Innovation is dedicated to preparing students to lead, create, and drive meaningful change in an increasingly dynamic business world. Our programs combine academic rigor with hands-on experience, empowering students to connect classroom knowledge with real organizational challenges.

Experiential learning is at the center of this approach. Through internships, consulting projects, and collaborations with local and national partners, students gain practical exposure to how businesses operate and grow. Initiatives such as the Small Business Internship Program (SBIP) and micro courses in areas like social media, data visualization, and professional communication help students build their readiness for the workplace while contributing to the economic and social vitality of the Bronx and surrounding communities.

Beyond the classroom, students actively engage in professional development through chapters of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), and the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA). These organizations open pathways to mentorship, national competitions, and meaningful networking experiences with industry leaders.

Faculty in the department are both scholars and practitioners who bring extensive experience and current research into their teaching. Their mentorship fosters critical thinking, innovation, and a sense of purpose that helps students connect their academic preparation to future career paths.

All programs and activities are designed with the NACE Career Competencies in mind, ensuring that graduates leave Lehman ready to excel in professional environments that value leadership, integrity, collaboration, and adaptability.
