Before embarking on a career in accounting, Prof. Tauber attended graduate school at Manhattan School of Music. She worked as a professional free-lance flutist and flute teacher in the NY Metropolitan area, before becoming a member of the Shreveport Symphony. Prof. Tauber continued her education at LSU in accounting. She has worked in public accounting, at Superior Oil (Mobil Oil), and Tenneco (in internal auditing). While working in Houston, Prof. Tauber became a CPA in Texas. Prof. Tauber has been teaching in CUNY since 1982. Prof. Tauber is the Director of the M.S. program in Accounting at Lehman College.
