James Mahon

James Mahon (B.A., Trinity College, Dublin; M.Phil., University of Cambridge; Ph.D., Duke University) is Professor of Philosophy and Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at Lehman College. His fields of interest are moral philosophy, the history of moral philosophy, and early modern philosophy. He was Chair of the Department of Philosophy from 2015 to 2018. Prior to coming to Lehman College, he was Head of the Department of Philosophy at Washington & Lee University. He has been a Visiting Scholar in the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge (2003), a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Philosophy at Princeton University (2006-2007), a Visiting Researcher at Yale Law School (2011-2012), and a Lecturer in the Program on Ethics, Politics, and Economics at Yale University (2011-2012). He is a Visiting Instructor at Yale Summer Session (2013–present).
