Relationship Education and Violence Prevention Services
Relationships come in many forms - friendships, romantic relationships, families - and significantly impact well-being. While not all relationships are the same, the impact they have on our lives can be profound. Understanding the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships is essential for fostering growth and personal well-being.
At its core, a healthy relationship is one that expresses:
- Respect and equality
- Honest and open communication, without fear of retaliation
- Trust and support of each other
- Constructive resolution of conflicts
- A sense of independence
Healthy relationships contribute to your sense of belonging and resilience. It is important to remember that a healthy relationship does not mean a perfect one. It simply means that individuals have a commitment to supporting one another and safely handling conflict.
The Wellness Center provides various resources for any student who may want to explore these concepts and topics further.
Together as One: Critical Conversations on Healthy Relationships
In this six-week series, participants will gain the skills necessary to advocate for themselves and others. By exploring the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships, participants learn the language and tools necessary to address various relationships in their life. All workshops are facilitated by trained professionals and presented in a Hy-Flex format (you determine the mix of in-person/virtual attendance). Students who attend five out of the six workshops will also earn a Wellness Advocate digital badge.
Reach out to wellness.education@lehman.cuny.edu to learn more about this series and how you can attend.
