Our Services

Mentorship

Lehman students, faculty and staff are committed to mentoring students through the UMLP 's "Circle of Support" program. Mentors are paired with students/mentees based on their interests, specializations, and fields of study. Student peer mentors receive specialized training and are paid for their time as mentors, while getting an opportunity to learn about themselves and build leadership skills. Mentees experience a sense of community with other “Circle of Support” members and get support to help them achieve academic success, develop as leaders and enhance personal growth.

Yes, students must be a part of the program to get a mentor. However, if you wish to seek mentorship service, you can speak to our mentorship coordinator Jonathan Rivera, and he can assist you with any mentorship services you may have.

He can be reached out via email jonathan.rivera4@lehman.cuny.edu

You can sign up by filling out the interest form below, and we will contact you for next steps to finding your mentor.

We also provide events throughout the academic year highlighting Hispanic heritage month, black history month, women’s history month. We also host events highlighting our department during our welcome reception, and we also host events to celebrate our closure of the semester during our fall finale as well as our annual Induction ceremony.

Leadership Retreat

Every once a year we have our annual leadership retreat, in which a select few of our Urban Male leaders get an opportunity to travel upstate to Edith Macy, and meet with other UMLP ambassadors to get to know one another, connect with one another, and to learn more about themselves on what type of leader they are, and how they can better serve their communities.

Induction Ceremony

Near the end of the Spring semester, we have our annual Induction ceremony, where we have the privilege to induct our students into the program. During the Induction ceremony, students are recognized for their achievements and success from the academic year, as well as soon to be UMLP Lehman graduates.
