The Carroll and Milton Petrie Student Emergency Grant Fund

Grant Details:

The Petrie Student Emergency Grant provides up to $1,250.00 per semester to help matriculated students handle unexpected, short-term financial emergencies that threaten their ability to stay in school.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently enrolled matriculated Lehman College student in good academic standing (E-Permit and Visiting Students are ineligible).

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0.

Required Documentation & Application Steps To be considered, you must submit a complete application including all of the following documents:

  1. Proof of Identity: Upload a clear copy of your Student ID.

  2. Written Personal Statement: A typed statement addressing:

    • How your academic program is helping you achieve your personal and career goals.

    • The nature of your current unexpected emergency and how it affects your studies.

    • How receiving this grant will benefit you. 

  3. Proof of Emergency / Financial Need:

    • An invoice, lease, or official bill showing your name and current address.

    • Documentation directly supporting your financial emergency.

  4. Vendor / Payee Details:

    • Name, address, and contact information for the vendor or payee to be paid.

    • Completed W-9 and Direct Deposit form from the vendor (not required for standard utility companies like ConEdison or Verizon)

Transportation Assistance (OMNY Card)

  • Transportation support is handled via a separate request within the Petrie application process.

  • To apply for one OMNY Card per semester, you must explicitly select "Transportation" as a need on your Petrie application and indicate you are applying for an OMNY card in your written statement.

  • Students must complete a student W-9 form before receiving an OMNY card.

Important Payment Note: Petrie funds are never disbursed directly to students. Approved funds are sent directly to the vendor or landlord.
