Before registering for classes, review and resolve any active holds on your account, as they can prevent enrollment and may take time to process. To check your holds and to-do items, log into CUNYfirst, open your Student Center, and select “Tasks and Holds.”
Major Declaration Hold
A Major Declaration hold may be placed on your account if you have earned or transferred 60 credits or more (including credits currently in progress). This hold is especially important for students receiving financial aid, as declaring a major is required for eligibility.
To resolve this hold, please schedule an advising appointment to review your academic record and complete the major declaration process.
Admissions Hold
If your admissions file is missing documentation, the Admissions Office will notify you by email. Missing documents will result in a hold that prevents registration. Requested documents can be submitted using the link below.
UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS FILE DROP
If you have questions regarding your Admissions holds, please contact undergraduate.admissions@lehman.cuny.edu for assistance.
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Meningitis Immunization Holds
New York State requires proof of MMR immunization. To clear this hold, please upload your MMR and Meningitis immunization record using the link below.
SUBMIT IMMUNIZATION RECORDS HERE
If you experience difficulty obtaining or submitting your immunization records, contact the Student Health Center at med.requirements@lehman.cuny.edu for assistance.
In-House Collection Hold
An In-House Collection hold indicates that you may have an outstanding balance at a CUNY institution you previously attended. This hold will prevent you from registering for classes until the balance is resolved. You must contact that institution’s Bursar or Collections Office directly for assistance and next steps.
Be sure to review and complete any To-Do items in CUNYfirst, as they may include missing medical records, FAFSA verification, TAP updates, or other required documents. You only need to complete items from Lehman College.
If you have a TCE hold, it means the Transfer Credit Evaluation office is still reviewing your transferred credits. Evaluation timelines vary and may take more than two weeks. Once completed, you will receive an email from the Admissions Office confirming your TCE has been completed.
In some cases, your TCE may include courses ending in “8888” (e.g., ENG 8888). These courses do not yet have a Lehman equivalent and have been forwarded to faculty for departmental review.
Login to your Lehman 360 page and review the eTransfer Credit Evaluation section to check the status of your course(s):
-
Pending or Completed – The course has already been sent to the appropriate academic department for review.
-
Action Needed by Student – You must take action because the course description could not be obtained. This should be resolved as soon as possible, ideally before the start of the semester.
Onboarding Advisement vs Major Advisement
Onboarding Advisement
Transfer and Second-Degree students are encouraged to meet with their onboarding academic advisor to discuss their transferred credits, registration roadblocks, and plan for their first semester.
Major Advisement
Visit the departments where you might major and discuss the major requirements with a department advisor. For starters, refer to list of the major requirements from the Undergraduate Bulletin.
