The New York Mandolin Ensemble combines exceptional musicianship with carefully crafted original compositions and arrangements. They consistently create truly memorable performances that are guaranteed to provide a joyful experience to anyone who loves quality instrumental music. Founded in 2007, the ensemble’s mission is to promote the mandolin family of instruments by demonstrating that the scope of mandolin music extends far beyond the familiar reference points within the folk and bluegrass worlds to include compelling original compositions and arrangements of Renaissance, baroque, and classical music as well as Brazilian Choro, Jazz, and Neapolitan/Italian songs. The varied instrumentation includes mandolin, mandola, mandocello, octave mandolin, guitar, cello, violin, Portuguese guitar, and bass.
