Cristina Contreras, LMSW, MPA, FABC, is a dynamic healthcare executive and the Chief Executive Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. With nearly thirty years of leadership experience, she has transformed the East Harlem facility into a model of excellence within the nation’s largest municipal healthcare system.

Cristina’s strategic vision has driven significant improvements in patient care, staff satisfaction, and hospital efficiency, leading to increased profitability and better health outcomes. Her educational credentials include a BSW from Herbert H. Lehman College, an MSW from Fordham University, an MPA from Baruch College, and an honorary doctorate from NY College of Podiatric Medicine.

Recognized for her leadership and community service, Cristina has been honored as a Manhattan Power Woman, received the Government Service Leadership Award from 100 Hispanic Women National, and was named a Hero of Hope and Champion of Inclusion by the NYC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She also serves as Chair of the National Dominican Day Parade and holds board positions with R.A.I.N. Total Care, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the NALHE Tri-State Advisory Board. Her evolution from a committed caseworker to a forward-thinking healthcare executive underscores her unwavering dedication to service, innovation, and excellence.
