Biography

Deborah Sanders

Deborah’s primary interest is marketing technology aka Martech. She is especially focused on web analytics including predictive analytics. In a relentlessly evolving technological environment she spends much of her time learning alongside her students about the latest advances in social media marketing, search engine optimization, social media advertising, influencer marketing and of course, the latest AI innovations and more. She is a life-long learner and who is deeply committed to expanding her perspective of the world of marketing, business and beyond. She strives to bring new perspectives to her students.

Before coming to Lehman College, Deborah served as Executive Director of The Harlem Venture Group (HVG), a not-for-profit organization that she co-founded. HVG provided training and micro-financing services for hundreds of aspiring entrepreneurs and received several community services awards for its dedication to economic development in low-income communities. Prior to HVG, Deborah held several positions at the Du Pont Company. Starting out in industrial plant engineering at a nuclear energy facility and moving into other areas of the company including medical products. She is active in her community, has served on many not-for-profit boards including the board of The Columbia Business School Alumni Club of New York.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from The University of Delaware and her Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. She is a member of the American Marketing Association, The West African Research Association and is active in the Association of National Advertisers where Lehman College is a university member.

Her hobbies include boating and exercising. She lives with her family in Harlem, NY.
