Biography

Lissette M. Diaz is an experienced civil service professional with a strong background in higher education administration and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and operational support. With over a decade of experience at the City University of New York (CUNY), Lissette has demonstrated expertise in managing budgets, coordinating events, and overseeing both academic and operational functions within fast-paced and dynamic environments. Fluent in English and Spanish, she is adept at fostering communication between students, faculty, and staff, ensuring smooth and efficient department operations.
Currently, Lissette serves as an CUNY Administrative Assistant in the Department of Journalism & Media Studies at Lehman College, where she has excelled in managing departmental budgets, scheduling events, and providing academic and administrative support to both faculty and students. In addition to her administrative duties, Lissette has played an instrumental role in recruiting, training, and supervising student workers and interns, contributing to the growth and success of the department. Her efforts to support staff engagement, such as launching the A&H Support Staff Café Hour during the pandemic, showcase her leadership and initiative in promoting a cohesive work environment.
Lissette's diverse experience also includes her role as an Administrative Coordinator at Lehman College’s English and Journalism Media Studies department, where she oversaw administrative operations, financial functions, and student services. In this position, she played a key role in facilitating process improvements, managing departmental events, and ensuring the seamless delivery of services to students and faculty.
Before her tenure in the Journalism and Media Studies departments, Lissette worked in Business Office, Student Financial Services at Lehman College, where she handled student loan processes, collections, and loan forgiveness programs, offering valuable financial guidance to students navigating their academic journeys.
In addition to her administrative expertise, Lissette has experience as an Adjunct Lecturer at Lehman College, teaching courses such as LEH 250 Freshman Year Seminar and Internship I & II in Journalism and Media. Her background in education allows her to bring a comprehensive perspective to her work in student support and departmental operations.
Lissette holds a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, both from Lehman College. She is passionate about contributing to the mission and vision of her institution, continuously improving administrative functions, and promoting a positive academic environment.
Her skills in budgeting, event coordination, project management, and bilingual communication position her as a dedicated and adaptable professional, ready to support the goals of any team or department she serves.
