Biography

Mario Gonzalez-Corzo

Dr. Corzo holds an impressive array of academic qualifications, including a PhD in Economics/International Relations, multiple Master’s degrees in Economics, International Relations/Global Affairs, and Political Science, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. His educational background is complemented by certifications such as the Executive Education Program in Value Investing from Columbia University and a Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Rutgers University.

In his academic career, Dr. Corzo serves as a Professor of Economics at Lehman College, CUNY, where he teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in Economics and Finance. Additionally, he is a Lecturer in Finance at Columbia University's School of Professional Studies. His research focuses on diverse topics, including financial asset ownership among different demographic groups in the U.S., labor market trends in the financial sector, and entrepreneurship and economic reforms in transition economies, particularly regarding Cuban agriculture and the non-State sector. He is also a Faculty Fellow at the Bildner Center for Western Hemisphere Studies and a Contributing Editor for the Handbook of Latin American Studies, specifically covering the Cuban economy.

Professionally, Dr. Corzo has extensive experience in the financial services industry, providing consulting and strategic investment advice to global banks and insurance companies in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America. His career includes senior roles at major firms such as Pricewaterhouse Coopers and JP Morgan Chase, where he managed risk exposure for institutional clients in Latin America and other emerging markets.
