Joseph Huot

Born and raised in the Bronx, Joseph Huot has dedicated over a decade to educating students with disabilities in District 10. He holds a Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on early childhood, reflecting his passion for fostering inclusive learning environments. Since 2018, Joseph has served as an adjunct faculty member at Lehman College, where he inspires future educators. In 2023, he transitioned to a full-time faculty role while also pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Lehman College. With a goal to help student teachers prepare for their future teaching positions, Joseph draws from his experience as a tenured special education teacher to mentor and guide prospective educators. He is committed to ensuring that student candidates develop a comprehensive understanding of effective pedagogical practices, incorporating research-based strategies to create engaging and differentiated learning environments. He teaches many courses within the Special Education program currently and fosters many strong relationships with teacher-candidates and surrounding schools. Joseph advocates for fostering a student-centered classroom that promotes critical thinking, deep learning, and academic success. Outside the classroom, Joseph enjoys cooking and exploring new cultures through travel. He is deeply committed to supporting his graduate students in their academic and professional journeys. His aim is to foster collaborations with programs to enhance the School of Education, creating a more integrated  and enriching experience for all. He seeks to identify and eliminate barriers that hinder both struggling students and teachers, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Additionally, he plans to leverage innovative technologies to empower the community, making learning more accessible and engaging.
