Preparation for Teaching Online: A Foundational Workshop for Lehman Faculty

Dear Faculty,

We are pleased to invite you to register for “Preparation for Teaching Online: A Foundational Workshop for Lehman Faculty.” This intensive, fully online workshop is designed to equip you with the essential skills for effective online and hybrid course instruction.

This program, offered Jan 08 – 23, 2026, is intended for faculty scheduled to teach online or hybrid courses at Lehman College during the following academic year. Priority will be given to those teaching in Fall 2026.

Workshop Focus and Experience

This asynchronous workshop is offered completely online in Brightspace.
It models effective design and facilitation skills, covering pedagogical approaches, organization, and management of online and hybrid courses.
You will gain valuable first-hand experience in online learning.

Key Details and Requirements

Duration: Jan 08 – 23, 2026.
Time Commitment: There are no required synchronous (real-time) sessions, but faculty must be available to log in frequently to participate in discussions and complete work during each of the two weeks. Synchronous office hours will be provided.
Compensation: Faculty who successfully complete the workshop are eligible for a flat rate compensation of $550.
Eligibility: The workshop is open to full-time and part-time faculty.

Important Notes

Repeat Participants: Faculty who completed this workshop in the last three years cannot retake it. We encourage you to schedule a course design consultation with our office instead.
New Faculty: All hiring paperwork must be completed with HR, who will screen the applicants for eligibility before the workshop start date for you to participate.
Department Chair Approval: Please confer with your department chair about participating. Their approval is mandatory for all faculty who apply.
