Type of work you do there
Part of my job function is to maintain and produce interactive web maps and applications for trust staff. Using ESRI's suite of web-based mapping products I visualize our assets throughout the park. This aids internal communication and shows areas that need to be prioritized for future planning. Another part is updating and maintaining our operations database. With so many new areas opening at our park this year, it has been my job to add every new asset to our database.

Comments on the EEGS Dept Program you were enrolled in

Continuing my Bachelor with Lehman's EEGS program was undoubtedly one of the best decisions I could have made as an undergrad. Like a lot of sophomores in STEM, I was at a crossroads between multiple fields of interest. My mentor convinced me that no matter where you go in STEM you cannot escape data and how to communicate data. The EEGS program at Lehman allowed me to focus on obtaining skills in data analytics and visualization within the GIS ecosystem. These skills helped me land an internship in field ecology and conservation science during my senior year. Shortly after graduation, I began my current position as a full-time GIS analyst at the Hudson River Park Trust. Applying the same principles of data management and cartographic conventions I learned as an undergrad at Lehman's EEGS Program.

What else have you been up to?

My internship with NAC really rejuvenated my passion for the natural world. Anyone I take hiking now has to wait for me while I identify every tree and wildflower we come across using a Newcombs field guide I take with me. If they're particularly unlucky they might have to look and listen for any sign of a kestrel I might have seen flying overhead. I also took up surfing about 3 years ago and have been hooked on it since.
