Biofeedback

Biofeedback & Language Acquisition in Bilingual Speakers Lab

At BLABS, we study how people learn and produce speech. Our research looks at both the sounds speakers produce (acoustics) and how they move their mouths and tongues to make those sounds (articulation). We are currently investigating speech motor skills in bilingual speakers, and how visual biofeedback treatment using ultrasound imaging can help individuals with speech sounds disorders. BLABS is led by Dr. Boram Kim and is part of the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. We are located in the Speech & Theater Building, where we have a state-of-the-art soundproof booth equipped with motion capture cameras and ultrasound devices to comprehensively study speech in action.

Lehman Neurolinguistics Lab

The Lehman Neurolinguistics Lab is housed at Lehman College, City University of New York. The lab is led by Dr. Mira Goral. Our work focuses on language processing in bilingual and multilingual healthy adults and in individuals with aphasia. Our lab has received funding from external (NIH/NIDCD, NIH/NIA) and internal (PSC-CUNY, Shuster Fellowship) funding sources.
