Guidelines

☞ Students must apply to Lehman College and be accepted before applying to the Social Work program.

Applications, including transcripts, must be submitted before the deadline preceding entry into the program.

Retention Policy

Criteria for Admission

  • A minimum of 54 college credits
  • A minimum cumulative index of 2.7 (2.9 recommended) 
  • Completion of Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare (SWK 237)
  • Completion of Foundations of Sociology (SOC 166) 

Transfer Students

Students may complete the requirements at Lehman or the equivalent courses at another college if the credits are transferable. 

Transfer students must include with their application to the Social Work Program all transcripts from colleges previously attended; student copies of transcripts are acceptable.  

Transfer students who have a lower cumulative index than 2.7 may apply to the Social Work Program after completing 12 credits at Lehman and achieving a 2.7 cumulative index.
