Profile

Professor Orlando Rivera is a Lecturer in the Exercise Science program in the Department of Exercise Sciences and Recreation at Lehman College CUNY. He will be earning his Doctorate of Philosophy – Health Sciences from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ in 2024. He teaches various undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of Exercise Science including topics such as theories of strength and conditioning, and motor learning.

Dr. Rivera is also the Exercise Sciences Internship Coordinator. His research interests include markers of human performance, fat oxidation in endurance athletes, barbell velocity for auto-regulation in athletes, and hypertrophy. Dr. Rivera holds certifications in Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and Functional Movement Screening. He has done various volunteer work coaching sports teams and spent time working as a personal trainer, as well as teaching and advising at other institutions. His interests include competitive powerlifting, sports nutrition, completing half-marathons, reading, and comic books.
