Welcome

The School of Education Educator Certification Office is available for matriculated students enrolled to graduate from one of the teacher/ educator preparation programs offered at Lehman. We serve (SOE) School of Education current students who will officially graduate and those who have graduated from the teacher programs at Lehman.

Our office provides guidance, referral services and navigation tools for students to obtain their state certification from the New York State Education Department – Office of Teaching Initiatives after they officially graduate and complete all requirements. Based on each SOE student’s program area of study, we can provide personalized New York State certification checklists, per request.

Our services are initially available via email and via phone or zoom by appointment when necessary. It is imperative that SOE students be aware of their individual state certification requirements and should ideally have them complete them by the time they graduate from their teacher program.

In addition to checking in with their degree Program Coordinator/ Advisor, students should contact the Certification Office at teacher.certification@lehman.cuny.edu during their first semester to learn more about their personal state certification requirements. It is important for students to advocate for themselves to utilize services offered at Lehman.
