Associate Professor Sean McCarthy was recognized with a 2024 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Fiction. The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship makes unrestricted cash grants of $8,000 to New York State-based artists working in 15 disciplines, recognizing five disciplines per year on a triennial basis. This program is administered by New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), with leadership support from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). Please click here for the full announcement.
Associate Professor and BFA/BA coordinator Melissa Brown had her work featured in the solo show Windows and Bars at Derek Eller Gallery in May 2023.

Associate Professor Melissa Brown recently had a solo exhibition NYNY2020 at Derek Eller, it was reviewed by Arts Magazine, other solo exhibitions and two person exhibitions include: Between States, Derek Eller Gallery, Melissa Brown and Jamie Bull at Dodd Gallery at University of Georgia in Athens, Going AWOL, Biggins Gallery at Auburn University, Tennis Elbow, the Journal Gallery, Brooklyn, Past Present Future at Magenta Planes, Paper Fortune at CANADA, in New York City. Internationally she has mounted solo exhibitions at Kenny Schacter, ROVE in London and Roberto Paradise in Puerto Rico. Her work has been in Art in America and the New York Times.
She was awarded the Joan Mitchell Grant for painting in 2012 and a residency at the Joan Mitchell Center in 2019. Her work is in the permanent collections at the Whitney Museum of Art and the New York City Department of Education. She is an organizing member of the artist-run-gallery Essex Flowers.
Associate Professor Sean McCarthy had a two-person show with Craig Taylor entitled Together, A Part in the Essex Flowers Window Box in NYC July 15–24, 2020. He also has a work included in Envelope, a group exhibition at Drawer, July 20–August 9, 2020.
Chief CLT and Adjunct Lecturer, John Belardo, had a solo exhibition at the Azarian McCullough Art Gallery running from January 21st - February 20th, 2020.
Associate Professor, Gina Dominique, Hersey was recently awarded a November 2019, 18th Street Arts Center Visiting Artist Residency in Standa Monica, California.
Associate Professor Dannielle Tegeder recently had a solo exhibition at Johannes Vogt Gallery's new Upper East Side location in spring 2019.
Associate Professor Terry Towery had a mid-career solo retrospective at Webster University entitled Picturesque Landscapes, Useless Beauty and the Sublime Landscapes of Timothy Eugene O'Tower: Explorations with Platinum and Palladium. His work was featured in the exhibition Making it Up: Photography Fictions at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, which is publishing a catalog by Marta Weiss (ISBN-13: 978-0500480373).
Adjunct Assistant Professor Katy Fischer has an MTA Mosaic Comission at the Bay Ridge Av R Station in Brooklyn, which opened in October 2017.
Adjunct Lecturer Aaron Johnson had a two-person exhibition at AishoNanzuka Gallery, Hong Kong in November 2018, as well as a solo exhibition at Gallery Poulsen, Copenhagen in February 2019.
Adjunct Lecturer Tammy Nguyen participated in The Color Curtain Project Classrooms Presentation at Printed Matter's NYABF @ MoMa PS1, Sunday Sept. 23rd at 12pm and Sept. 29 at Eaton DC, Washington DC; she also had a two-person exhibition with Nicole Won Hee Maloof called One Blue Eye, Two Servings, opening Oct 18, 2019, at CRUSHCURATORIAL in New York.
Adjunct Lecturer Tamar Ettun recently had a solo exhibition called Jubilation Inflation at Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art from Friday, October 12 to Saturday, December 15, 2018.
Adjunct Lecturer and MFA candidate Elizabeth Sayles' most recent picture book Americans was published by Simon & Schuster in June. Her original artwork from the book will be featured in the exhibit "A Children's America" at the Rockland Center for the Arts in West Nyack, NY in October.
