Irene Leung

Mineralogy, Petrology, Diamonds, Meteorites & Planetary Science.
Educational Interests
After completing her PhD at the University of California at Berkeley, she was a postdoctoral research staff geologist at Yale University before coming to Lehman College. She conducted research on (1) samples returned from the moon, (2) the Canyon Diablo Meteorite from Arizona, (3) 65 Ma space dust from the dinosaur-killer fireball, (4) the first findings of silicon carbide and C-60 fullerene in terrestrial diamond. She published papers in Science, Nature, American Mineralogist, International Journal of Geology, and The Antarctic Journal. She is an Honorary Professor of Jilin University, China, from which the Prime Minister of China, Wen Jiabao obtained his degree in Geology.
