LaRose T. Parris is a literary theori

st and cultural critic. She holds a Ph.D. from the CUNY Graduate Center, where she was awarded the Melvin Dixon Prize for best dissertation in African American Studies. Dr. Parris's first book, Being Apart: Theoretical and Existential Resistance in Africana Literature (2015), was awarded the Nicolás Guillén Prize for Outstanding Book in Philosophical Literature in 2016. Her articles have appeared in numerous scholarly journals, including Callaloo, Journal of Pan African Studies, and Review of Education, Pedagogy, and Cultural Studies. Dr. Parris has taught courses in Composition and African American Literature at City College/CUNY, New School University, New York Institute of Technology, and LaGuardia Community  College. Her research and scholarship in Africana Studies has led to her receiving the CUNY Chancellor's Research Fellowship in 2016 and 2017.

Rima Brusi (@RimaBrusi) is an anthropologist, writer, advocate, and educator. She holds master's and doctoral degrees in cultural anthropology from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the University of Puerto Rico. She has served as Associate Professor and Associate Chair at the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez; as founder, director and principal investigator of UPR’s Center for University Access, an outreach, research and advocacy initiative that expanded to six campuses in the system; as an applied anthropologist at The Education Trust in Washington D.C.; and as an advisor and writer for Univision Communications. Currently, she is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Anthropology and Scholar-in-residence at the Center for Human Rights and Peace Studies at Lehman College.  Dr. Brusi is both an engaged scholar and a creative non-fiction writer, and her current research and advocacy work focuses on two main topics: 1) public education in Puerto Rico in the context of (neo)colonialism, disaster capitalism and the debt economy and 2) inequality, geography, and access to public higher education in Puerto Rico and Latino populations in the United States.

Columba De La Parra earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Puerto Rico in May 2014. She has been a postdoctoral research fellow at the New York University of Medicine for the past four years. Dr. De La Parra has received grant funding for her research from the American Cancer Society and the Department of Defense. With a focus on cancer research, spe-cifically breast cancer, she has authored many publications as well as presented at different speaking engagements.

Michele Washington has been in the field of early childhood for over 40 years.  She has been a teacher and director in  public child care and head start programs and owner of two early childhood centers. Ms. Washington earned her M.S. in Early Childhood Education from Lehman College in 1990 and began teaching as an adjunct in that same year.  She has been teaching in the School of Education at Lehman College since 1990 and became a full time lecturer in 2017. Ms. Washington is the coordinator for the Minor to Masters Program in early childhood education at Lehman. For the past 30 years, she has been a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Currently, she is a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle. It is her belief that teaching is not just a profession, but her lifelong purpose.

Ning Chen earned her first Ph.D. in Psychology from East China Normal University in 2000. She then earned her second Ph.D. in Management from UCLA in 2009. She was an assistant professor for three years at the Fudan University in Shanghai and has been an associate professor for the last 10 years at Clarion University of Pennsylvania teaching Business Administration. Dr. Chen has extensive research experience and has received several grants. Her research focuses on psychology as well as business administration which has led to over 25 authorships in scholarly journals.

Nari Kim received her Ph.D. in Management from the Washington State University in 2016. She has been invited to present at several conferences on the topic on business management. Her research has lead to four papers in progress as well as two in review.  Several of the research topics she has studied include corporate ethics, impression management, and managerial cognition. She has focused on domestic and international business for her research studies. She has experience domestically as well as nationally in teaching business management.

Em V Adams received her M.S. degree in Youth and Family Recreation from Brigham Young University in Utah. She is expected to earn her Ph.D. in Parks Recreation and Tourism Management from Clemson University, South Carolina in May 2020. Ms. Adams has five years of experience as a Recreational Therapist and is a certified yoga therapist therapy. She has received several awards and recipient of the Marsha Ward Play Fellowship. Her extensive experience in research has led to numerous publications in scholarly journals.

Eileen Markey earned her M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University in 2000 and her B.A. in Urban Studies from Fordham University in 1998. From 2014-2018 she taught journalism report-ing to student participating in College Now at Lehman College. Ms. Markey worked has ap-peared in New York Magazine and the Wall Street Journal. One of her works focused on home-lessness and affordable housing which was reported on the Village Voice. Ms. Markey has been invited to speak at institutions of higher education such as the University of Notre Dame and Georgetown University. She has been a full-time lecturer at Lehman in the Department of Jour-nalism and Media Studies.

Marisa M. White is a NY Emmy Award-winning professional with over twenty years of experience in media. For many years she was Director of Creative Services for the award-winning community television station, BronxNet, which allowed her to bring students the latest in production techniques and professional development and to prepare them for real world environments. Many of her former students are working in various positions in the media industry. She believes that experiential learning is essential for today's media students, whether they are operating a camera, writing a script, conducting an interview, or delivering a script on camera.

Francisco (Paco) Antonio Montaño joined the Department of Languages and Literatures as Lecturer in 2009. Paco’s faculty appointment was converted from Lecturer to Assistant Professor fall 19’.  Among his roles at Lehman and CUNY, Prof. Montaño also serves as an officer of the Executive Committee of the CUNY Council on World Language Study, the CUNY-wide Languages & Literatures discipline council; as Chapter Moderator of Lehman's Zeta Sigma chapter of Pi Delta Phi, the national French honor society; and as Treasurer of Lehman's Chi chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. From 2009-2019, he also served as Language Coordinator of the elementary French, Italian, and Spanish L2 language sequences in the Department of Languages & Literatures. In Spring 2012, Dr. Montaño received the School of Arts and Humanities Award for Excellence in Teaching. He received his A.B. (French) from Princeton University, his M.A. in French Linguistics from Indiana University, and earned dual Ph.D. degrees from Indiana University in French (French Linguistics track) and Linguistics. His current research focuses on diachronic and synchronic French phonology, Romance linguistics, syllable-sensitive phonological change, consonant cluster phonotactics, prosody, language contact, and language pedagogy. 

Evelyn Durán Urrea received her M.A. in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Arizona. She completed her Ph.D. coursework in Hispanic Linguistics in the University of New Mexico until she moved to Penn State to continue her dissertation research on Spanish-English code-switching and receiver her Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics from Penn State University in 2012.  Her research interests include bilingualism, Spanish-English code-switching, and Spanish as a heritage language. She has been teaching and supervising Heritage Spanish courses at the undergraduate level since 2002. Her most recent research has focused on assessment and placement of heritage and second language learners of Spanish at the college level, practices in the foreign language classroom; specifically, a pedagogical model for the learning of Spanish as a Heritage Language based on the Flipped Classroom approach and Open Educational Resources initiatives.

Martha Lerski serves as Business Librarian at Lehman College and previously worked in the currency market.  She is engaged in research on, and active implementation of,  Information Literacy and also Open Educational Resources in Business instruction.  A native of San Francisco, Lerski is a long-time resident of NYC where she is a Life Member of the Art Students League and where she completed a Master of Arts degree in Cultural Heritage Preservation in the Context of Climate Change Adaptation or Relocation at the CUNY Graduate Center. 

Lerski earned a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, Certificate of Advanced Studies in Digital Libraries from Syracuse University, and a Master of Library Science from Queens College, CUNY.  Her research on cultural heritage relates to her sculpture practice.  Lerski’s library service informs her methodology for documenting and preserving heritage elements and her research on privacy and information security.

Chen Yin-Lin earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Columbia University in 2010. She has held postdoctoral fellowship positions at the University of Connecticut, University of Toronto and Duke University. Ms. Lin has over 20 years of extensive teaching experience in Mathematics at several academic institutions. She has mentored students as they have completed various projects in the field of Mathematics. She has been invited by many academic institutions to speak about different topics in Mathematics. Ms. Lin has eight publications and was awarded a grant from the National Science Council.

Celia Cruz earned her Ph.D. in Science Education, Major in Mathematics from De La Salle University, Philippines in 2002; she is also licensed by the New York State Education Department as a mathematics teacher in secondary education. She has over 30 years of teaching experience, 11 years with NYCDOE in mathematics and has been teaching as an adjunct at Lehman College for the last five years in both the Department of Education and Department of Mathematics. Ms. Cruz has received several awards and scholarships which includes a five-year Master Teacher award from Math for America. Her many years of experience in teaching mathematics has led to consulting and co-authoring on textbooks and manuals.

Monica Duncan earned her MA in Choreography and Performance from the Justus-Liebig University, Germany in 2017 as well as her MFA in Visual Arts from the University of California in 2010. She has collaborated with many artists throughout the world on several exhibitions and performances. Her current exhibitions will be in presented in New York, Germany and Malaysia. She is the co-founder for an organization called Cutting Bird, which focuses on live arts documentation, video content creations and provides training in video production. Ms Duncan has over 10 years experienced at a lecturer of the arts. Her passion for the arts has led to five publications via print and online.

Carol Bues earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from SUNY Stonybrook University in 2019. She has been an adjunct faculty professor for the past two years at the CUNY Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing. Ms. Bues is a NYS licensed midwife and has extensive experience working with women throughout their pregnancy. This has led to Ms. Bues being one of the founders of the Midwifery Care NYC which provides prenatal care, home births and post-natal care for women. She is a member of many associations focusing on midwives such as the Ameri-can College Nurse Midwives.

Sheila Hankin earned her Ed.D from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2006. She also earned her MSN from Pace University in 2000. For the past two years she has been an adjunct professor in Nursing at the College of New Rochelle. She has 28 years of experience teaching in an elementary school as a teacher and an assistant principal. Ms Hankin is also certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and has numerous years of experienced in the medical field. She has also been published in the Journal of Holistic Nursing and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Catherine Healy-Sharbaugh earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Villanova University, Master in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from University of California, Los Angeles, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University. Healy-Sharbaugh’s clinical expertise is in Family Health, College Health, and Population Health. Recipient of 2018 Best Practices in College Health Award for her quality improvement study on the Influence of Text Messages on College Students' Influenza Vaccine Rate. Recipient of the 2016 First Place Winner in the Professional Research Poster Category, ACHA National Conference, San Francisco, Ca. ; recipient of the AAAHC Outstanding Surveyor Award, and recipient of three ATD Professional Nursing Scholarship Grants 2013, 2014, 2015. She is the current Chair of Advanced Practice Clinicians of the ACHA, Board member of SPCHNA and Educational Coordinator of the New York NP Association.

Emann Allebban earned her Ph.D. in Philosophy from McGill University in 2018. Her areas of specialization are in Islamicate Philosophy, Medieval Philosophy and Metaphysics. She has been an instructor at Providence College since 2017. Ms. Allebban has received numerous awards and grants. She has been invited to speak at several conferences domestically as well as internationally. Ms. Allebban is a member of the American Philosophical Association and the Society for Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy to name a few.

Naomi Zack (PhD, Columbia University) has taught at the University of Oregon and the University at Albany, SUNY. Her most recent book is Reviving the Social Compact: Inclusive Citizenship in an Age of Extreme Politics (2018). Other recent books are her edited 51-essay Oxford Handbook on Philosophy and Race (2017) and Philosophy of Race, An Introduction (2018). Her monographs include: The Theory of Applicative Justice: An Empirical Pragmatic Approach to Correcting Racial Injustice (2016), White Privilege and Black Rights: The Injustice of US Police Racial Profiling and Homicide (April 2015), The Ethics and Mores of Race: Equality after the History of Philosophy (2011/2015) and Ethics for Disaster, (2009, 2010-11), Inclusive Feminism: A Third Wave Theory of Women's Commonality (2005), and Philosophy of Science and Race (2002). Her first book was Race and Mixed Race (1992). Naomi Zack is the winner of the 2019 Romanell-Phi Beta Kappa professorship and will be giving 3 public lectures at Lehman College on March 18, 2020 on 'Intersectionality.'

J. Mohorčich earned his Ph.D. in political science at Johns Hopkins University. He has previously taught at Johns Hopkins and the University of Mannheim. At Lehman, he teaches courses in American politics, political philosophy, and science policy. His research interests include pragmatism, literature, urbanism, and intersections of science and politics, especially the ways that critical infrastructure services (e.g., delivering nutrition, contraception, potable water, electricity, shelter) structure politics. He recently published a chapter describing the effects of constructing global networks of computational power as well as articles about how GMOs, nuclear power, and biofuels can be used to understand the development of cell-cultured meat. He has also published work with the Sentience Institute on social change and technology adoption.

Crystal George-Moses received her MSW from Fordham University the University and is cur-rently pursuing her Ph.D. at CUNY Graduate Center. She has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level. Her experience includes consulting for child welfare ser-vices such as the Administration for Child Services, Good Shepherd Services and Big Brothers, Big Sisters. She was a Program Director at SCO Children and Family Services as well as the Administration for Child Services. She has been lecturing at Lehman College since 2016 in the Department of Social Work.
