On Friday, May 16, and Monday, May 19, the award-winning Lehman WAC program hosted a two-day Institute in the Music Building’s East Dining Room. Sixteen faculty from across disciplines came together to reflect on their own writing practices and develop low-stakes, writing-to-learn activities for their Summer or Fall courses.
Reviving a tradition that ran from 2008–2016, current coordinators Sophia Hsu and Sarah Soanirina Ohmer led the event with support from Jane Kehoe-Higgins of the Institute of Literacy Studies. The program featured faculty presentations, collaborative workshops, and sessions connecting writing pedagogy to other campus initiatives.
Lehman WAC has received national recognition, including a 2021 Honorable Mention for DEI contributions and a 2025 NEH Humanities Initiative at HSI Award.
