SharisIngramSharis Ingram, who graduated in 2023 with a History BA, will begin her graduate studies in the Early Childhood Education Master's Program at Lehman. She continues to work full-time in a 3K progam in the Bronx.

 

 

 Gabriel Valle Gabriel Valle, who graduated in 2023 with a History BA, plans to attend either New York Law School or Penn State. He is currently working at the Winson Staffing Services Agency in Manhattan. When time allows, he likes to read, work on videos, and continue working on his poetry book.

More Alumni Highlights

Stevem NunezSteven Nunez graduated in 2022 with a History BA and departmental honors,. He has earned an Advanced Certificate in Public Administration and Public Policy at the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies, and is also planning on earning an MA in Urban Studies. He is currently employed with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).





A MendezAmanda Mendez, who graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2022 with a dual major in History and English, is currently pursing a Master's degree in Information and Library Science at the University at Buffalo. In the future, she plans on pursuing a Master's degree in History and one day her Ph.D., Amanda is currently employed at Lehman as a College Assistant in the Freshman Year Initiative Office. In her spare time she runs an instagram dedicated to books.

 

ZarinZarin Tasnim, who graduated in 2014 with a dual major in History and Political Science, won a Fullbright English Teaching Assistant scholarship and is now in Busan. Korea. Whule she was at Lehman, Zarin pursued her interest in early modern European history by taking advantage of a study abroad program in Florence, Italy. Learn more about her achievements and experiences.

 



Joseph Lawlor
, who graduated cum laude in 2015 with a History BA, has been accepted to the Master's in Public Policy program at the University of Cambridge.  He previously held a CUNY Washington DC internship, working at the Commerce Department in the Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs, where he helped roll out President Obama's Investing in Manufacturing Communities partnership program.

 

ShaneShane Martin, who earned a Lehman BA in History and Philosophy in May 2020, is presently pursuing a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary studies at NYU, in their XE program (Experimental Humanities & Social Engagement). He has recently published his first novel, Lost Souls: A Servant of Death, a historical fantasy set in Imperial Rome, which is available on Amazon as an eBook and paperback. He’s currently working on the sequel to it, which will also be published on Amazon.

Chris Ferraro, who received his MA in History from Lehman in 2004, has published P.D.A.: Personal Disaster Assistant, a science fiction novel about the pitfalls of the digital age. Chris has been teaching global history for the past ten years at Spring Valley High School in Rockland County and is pursuing a Ph.D. in History at St. John's University.

 

VivienneVivienne Kruger graduated in 1974 with Departmental Honors and Phi Beta Kappa in the Lehman College History Department, where she kindled fond memories taking classes from Professors Martin Duberman and Richard Gerber. She received her Ph.D. in American History in 1985 from Columbia University, where she wrote her dissertation on slave families in early New York. Her new book, Balinese Food: The Traditional Cuisine and Food Culture of Bali (pictured at left) will be published this April by Tuttle Publishing. As she writes on her blogspot, Balinese food “bears witness to Bali’s time-honored, enduring, authentic village cuisine: the extraordinary, legendary beauty of Bali is mirrored in its spectacular ceremonial feasts.” Read her blogspot, and get more information about her book.

 

Frank Nardi graduated in 2013 from the History Department’s Master’s Program, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Humanities, with a focus on History, at Drew University. He writes: “Lehman prepared me well for my current program and I am very grateful for the support of the faculty at Lehman and the academic rigor of the courses. I incorporate what I have learned into my classes that I teach at my local high school. I would strongly recommend that future students consider studying at Lehman for its unique combination of an intellectually stimulating environment and course selection, student-friendly faculty and affordable tuition.”

Victor Luna, who graduated with a History major in January 2013, is now pursuing a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Childhood Education at City College.

Azeta Kola received her B.A. in History from Lehman in 2003, then went on to earn an MA in History from Fordham and, in 2016, a Ph.D. in Early Modern European History from Northwestern University.  Her focus is on Italy and the Eastern Mediterranean, specifically the Venetian Empire in the Western Balkans. Her dissertation was titled: "Ottoman Albania?: A Venetian History of a Former Colony, Post 1479." She was awarded a NYC Mayor's Graduate Fellowship while at Fordham University, and completed her dissertation research on a IIE Fulbright Fellowship and a Gladys Krieble Delmas Fellowship at the Venetian State Archives.  At Lehman, Azeta's mentor and advisor was Prof. Marie Marianetti, Chair of the Department.
