MA in Liberal Studies

Master of Arts in Liberal Studies

The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies offers students an innovative, flexible, and customizable path toward an interdisciplinary degree. The 36-credit program lets students design a course of study focusing on a specific issue that relates to their personal or career goals. Our graduates have used their degrees to secure promotions or employment in the non-profit and/or service sector, including education, social work, and healthcare. We teach writing, research and critical thinking skills that are valuable in most management and entrepreneurial positions.

Students take a 12-credit core of Liberal Studies courses and 18 credits of graduate electives from various departments. The final requirement is to write a  Master's thesis or complete a capstone project under the supervision of a faculty adviser (students who choose the second option must take an additional three-credit elective).

We will not be accepting applications for the 2025-26 academic year. Please check back in the fall for more information.
