The 80-hour dental assistant training program followed by a 40-hour externship prepares students for one of the fastest growing healthcare positions. Our program will prepare you for entry-level positions as a dental assistant. This program covers the history of dentistry, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, introduction to tooth structure, and other areas. The purpose of this program is to familiarize learners with dental assisting activities to effectively function as a dental assistant in a dental practice. Upon successful completion of the training, you will be matched with a local dental practice to complete your 40-hour externship and gain the valuable hands-on work experience needed for employment in the field.

Pay average in NYC is $20.74 per hour ($43,150 annually).

  1. Dental Assistant with 40-hour Externship (DEA 100 / 23 sessions / 80 hours plus 40-hour externship / hybrid)

CERTIFICATION

In order to receive a Lehman College program certificate, you must successfully complete all course requirements listed with a grade of C or better. To request your Lehman Certificate, please email ce@lehman.cuny.edu with “Certificate Request” as the subject line.

National Certification: This program meets the necessary requirements to take the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Radiology Health and Safety (RHS) Examination and the Infection Control (ICE) exam.
