Lehman Wins the College Fed-Maiden Lane Division
The College Fed Challenge is designed to bring real-world economics into the classroom. Teams play the role of monetary policymakers by analyzing economic conditions and recommending a course for monetary policy. Congratulations to Professor Papainikolaou and his student team, Fredrick Boakye, Tushain Neulman, Tashane Henry, and Jesus Minervino on their win.

Effective Winter/Spring 2018, class section numbers will no longer include “W” to denote a Writing Intensive section. All sections will be using the Bell block section designations and “Writing Intensive” will continue to be denoted as a course attribute in CUNYfirst.

Lehman College Enrollment Management and Financial Aid
In 2017, total enrollment at Lehman increased by 1,000 students. This fall, about 950 freshmen and 1,400 transfer students joined the campus community—an increase since 2016 by nearly 37% and 15%, respectively. This remarkable growth has been made possible by numerous entities on campus within the Division of Enrollment as well as the Financial Aid Office. Their behind-the-scenes efforts to recruit, enroll, and fund Lehman students, as well as ensure student success, are too often invisible. Provost Fayne and President Cruz recently took a virtual and physical “tour” of this vital work and want to share with you what they learned. Please take a look at the Power Point slide deck to find out what it takes to bring students into the classroom, shepherd them through graduation, and prepare them for the future.

To address compliance and avoid financial penalties, eVerification will allow faculty to verify their grades online and provide supporting documentation for "F" and Incomplete (INC) grades assigned to students.

Lehman Awarded $1 Million CUNY 2X Tech Initiative Grant
The CUNY 2X Tech Initiative is Mayor de Blasio's $20 million investment in CUNY to double the number of tech graduates by 2022. Lehman College was named the first of only two CUNY campuses to receive funding, with a $1 million grant over the next 20 months.

A change in federal policy for the protection of human subjects will go into effect on January 19, 2018. These changes in federal regulations will result in a number of changes to the CUNY HRPP policies and procedures.

Tracking Our Impact Across the U.S.: Biology Alumni
The Department of Biological Sciences was established in 1968, the same year as Lehman College. For over 50 years, the department has launched the careers of thousands of alumni. We recently analyzed a set of 1000 biology alumni and found that they are living in 33 states, with the highest concentration in the New York Metro Region.

The Academic Center for Excellence
The Academic Center for Excellence (Old Gym 205) and the Science Learning Center (Gillet 133) offer FREE tutoring services. Hours for both tutoring centers are Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Online tutoring is also available.
